St. John the Baptist strives to minister to and meet the needs of our Hispanic families. We offer a Spanish version of many of our printed materials such as Stations of the Cross, Missalettes, Bibles, and prayer books.
A Spanish Mass is held on the first Sunday of each month at 5 PM, often with a covered dish meal immediately following.
Please join us as we further expand this ministry.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are appointed by the Bishop to distribute Holy Communion at Mass or to those unable to attend Mass. Any confirmed Catholic who is a registered member of our parish and able to receive Holy Communion is invited to become an Eucharistic Minister. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please contact the church office.
Servers assist at weekend Masses, weddings, funerals, Stations of the Cross, and other liturgical services. Altar Servers perform many tasks before, during and after Mass. Servers carry the cross and processional candles, hold the book for the priest when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, present the bread, wine and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts, assist the priest when he receives the gifts from the people and generally assists during the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
New server orientation and training sessions are held several times a year. Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church needs committed, reverent servers to assist at the altar.
Our Servers are coordinated by Marion Koss. If you have made your first Holy Communion and are interested in this ministry, please contact the church office.
Lectors are entrusted with the ministry of proclaiming the Word of God during Liturgy. We need those who have good, strong voices.
Adults as well as teenagers are welcome to consider becoming a lector.
Rosie Sullivan-Lang coordinates our lector program. If you are interested in this ministry, please contact the church office.
The Ministry of being an Usher is open to all called to welcome visitors and parishioners to the sacred place of worship. Ushers are needed at all Masses. The time commitment is minimal - just an extra 15 minutes before your Mass and 10 minutes after. Any registered member of our parish can become an Usher.
In the ministry of hospitality, you can help make Sunday Mass more meaningful for all parishioners and visitors. If you are interested in helping St. John with this ministry, please call the church office for more information.
During the 10 am Mass, children ages 3 to 7 are dismissed to hear the Gospel in a language they can understand. Contact the church office if you wish to become a minister to children.
