The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults or OCIA (formerly RCIA) is a no-pressure, safe environment to learn more about Catholicism and share in engaging conversation with other people who are seeing to learn and grow in their faith. The goal of the process is to provide opportunities to experience and encounter the love of God through prayer, teaching, and community.
OCIA is a weekly program held at St. John the Baptist Parish that serves a wide spectrum of individuals who want to learn more about God and the Catholic faith. It is for people who are interested in becoming Catholic, including non-Catholic Christians, former Catholics who want to return to the church, as well as Catholic adults who desire to receive Confirmation.
OCIA officially begins with the "inquiry" period each fall.
The OCIA class at St. John the Baptist is held on Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:30. We roughly follow the calendar for Sabine Parish Schools, so OCIA meets during the school year and typically takes the same breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc.
Please contact the church office at 318-256-5680 or email [email protected] to receive more information about the OCIA process.
